This home page will be updated as additional information becomes available.} CALL FOR PAPERS, VIDEOS AND PARTICIPATION The Second IEEE International Conference on Multimedia Computing and Systems (ICMCS) is devoted to presenting and exploring technological advancements and innovations in the field of Digital Multimedia relating to computers, telecommunications, publishing, informatics, consumer electronics, and entertainment, and in theory, practice, and delivery. The conference will bring together researchers, developers, marketers, educators, performers, and film and video producers, and practitioners of Digital Multimedia. The goal is to foster increased synergy in the exploitation of the advances in one area by other areas, and to support communication among developers and deliverers of digital multimedia applications and programming. A mix of technical sessions, performances, displays, tutorials, workshops, and exhibits will be offered. Conference proceedings will be published and provided at the conference. The proceedings will include the full text of presented technical papers, overviews of tutorials and workshops, and listings of exhibitors, performers, and displayers. All conference registrants will be eligible to attend and participate in all conference activities. The conference will address but is not limited to practical, technical, and strategic issues in: Capture and Management of Assets: audio/video capture hardware, compression algorithms, animation, music, image processing tools, asset management tools, and digital video processing and editing production of multimedia. Tools: multimedia production tools, multimedia authoring tools, A/V editing tools, desktop video production tools and systems, gaming tools, hypermedia development tools, Multimedia performance evaluation tools, multimedia intelligent systems. Storage, Delivery, and Presentation: multimedia computer design, computer architectures, set-top box design, operating systems , storage systems, multimedia networking, communication protocols, electronic books, real-time issues, human-computer interfaces, synchronization and integration, bandwidth requirement and projections, network planning, protocol design. Application-Specific Exploitation of Digital Multimedia: consumer video on demand, digital libraries, interactive Hollywood, multimedia in the home, gaming, and multimedia and the military, the arts, medicine, the publishing industry, and classroom education (K-12). Other Technical Topics: standards, legal issues and implications, services, government policy and funding, integrative multimedia design, careers in multimedia, multimedia college curricula, information repositories, the National Information Infrastructure (NII). The Conference Organizers are seeking proposals for technical sessions (2 hours), technical tracks (full day), tutorials (half/full day), workshops (1 or 2 days), performances, demonstrations, screenings, posters, and exhibitions. Technical submissions are sought in both short-paper (12 double spaced pages) and regular-paper (20 double spaced pages) format. Other participation proposals should be restricted to 4 double spaced pages. Video tape submissions in 1/2 inch, Beta or VHS formats (NTSC preferred) are accepted. These presentations must describe 1) original and significant technical contributions to the field, 2) innovative uses of digital multimedia technologies and/or tools, or 3) innovative exploitations of digital multimedia technologies in industry-specific problem solutions.
